Domain Availability Checker
Type a name and see whether it is already registered under .com, .net, .org and other endings, all in one go. We ask each registry directly.
How we check
For each ending we ask the registry that runs it, using RDAP where it is available and WHOIS otherwise. If the registry has no record of the name, we show it as looks available. If it has a record, someone already owns it.
We do not use a registrar's search for this, so nothing you type is shared with a company that sells domains. That also means we cannot show prices.
Why "looks available" is not a promise
- Reserved names: registries hold back some names, such as short words or country names, that will not show up as registered.
- Premium names: some unregistered names are for sale at a much higher price than normal.
- Very recent changes: a name registered or deleted in the last few minutes may not show the new state yet.
So treat the result as a quick first check, then confirm at the registrar you plan to use.
Tips for choosing a name
- Say it out loud. If people would have to ask how to spell it, consider another.
- Avoid hyphens and numbers unless they are part of your brand.
- If the .com is taken but the site behind it is unrelated and active, a different name will save you confusion later.
Questions
The name is taken. Can I find out when it expires?
Yes, use the Domain Expiry Checker. Most owners renew, so do not count on it becoming free.
Why can I not check every ending?
We keep the list to the most common endings so the check stays fast and polite to registries. Type a full domain to check any other ending that has a public RDAP or WHOIS service.
