Domain Expiry Checker
See exactly when a domain expires, how many days are left, and whether anything in its status could stop it renewing or let it be moved away.
Why domains expire by accident
A failed payment, outdated contact address or missed renewal can put a working domain at risk. Check renewal settings with the registrar and keep the account's contact and payment details current. Registry expiry data does not guarantee the last date on which you can recover a domain.
This check reads the expiry date from the registry and turns the status codes into plain warnings, so you can spot a problem while there is still time to fix it.
What we warn about
- Fewer than 45 days left: a reminder to confirm auto-renew and payment details.
- Fewer than 14 days, or already expired: renew now.
- On hold: the registrar or registry has removed the domain from DNS. Usually unpaid renewal or an unverified contact email.
- Redemption or pending delete: the domain has expired and is on its way to being released.
- No transfer lock: not a renewal problem, but an easy protection against someone moving the domain away.
Keeping important domains safe
- Turn on auto-renew and keep a valid payment method at the registrar.
- Make sure the account email is one you will still read in five years, ideally a shared address rather than one person's inbox.
- Renew for several years at a time for domains you depend on.
- Keep the transfer lock on and use two-factor login at the registrar.
Limitations
- A few country registries do not publish expiry dates. Your registrar account always shows it.
- If you renewed in the last day or two, the registry may still show the old date.
Questions
What happens on the day a domain expires?
It depends on the registrar. Many keep the site working for a few days, then point the domain at a parking page. For most generic endings the owner can still renew at the normal price for a while, then only at a higher restore fee during the redemption period.
Is the date here the same as in my registrar account?
Usually yes. Some registrars show an earlier date in your account so that renewal happens before the registry deadline.
