IP Lookup
Look up an IP address to see which country it is registered in and which network owns it. Enter a domain instead to look up the server it points to.
What the results tell you
- Country. Where the address block is registered or used. It is not a precise location.
- Network (ASN). The organisation that announces the address on the internet, such as a hosting company, an internet provider or a large company. ASN stands for autonomous system number.
- Reverse DNS. The hostname set for the address, if any. Hosting companies often use names that reveal the data centre or server.
Common uses
- Finding out which hosting company a site uses, before a migration or to report abuse.
- Checking where traffic in your server logs comes from, for example a burst of failed logins.
- Confirming that a domain points at the server you expect after a DNS change.
Limitations
- We show country and network only. City-level location is not included, and for most addresses it is a guess anyway.
- An address behind a CDN such as Cloudflare shows the CDN's network, not the server behind it.
- For a domain with many addresses, we look up the first six.
